Produce the same yield with fewer modules
PERC, by all means, allows for the passivation of the solar cell´s rear side, which involves installing a reflective layer, designed to capture previously unused sunlight back into the cell where it can be converted into solar electricity.
Qcells’ Power Reflector
A Special Nano Coating on the rear surface of the solar cell
Rays of sunlight that would otherwise go to waste are mirrored by the Power Reflector back through the cell to generate more electricity. Laser-fired contacts complement the nano coating to enhance the module’s electrical properties, increasing its efficiency considerably.

Based on our original Q.ANTUM Technology and Half-cell technology with multi busbars and wiring interconnection deliver not only superior performance, but also overwhelmingly beautiful aesthetics. Q.ANTUM DUO Technology reduces both electrical and optical losses by halving the current passing through each cell while making use of incident light more effectively.

Halving the cell halves the current. When combined with a module layout which reduces the distance traveled by the electric current, the result is a 3% increase in power. Two half cells with 12 busbars have the same or even greater output as a full cell with 24 busbars.

Reduced shading losses with round wires
Utilizing wires instead of flat ribbons reduces both the width and the effective shading width decreasing shading by 75% and increasing the power by 2.5%. The light reflected from the round shape of the wires improves the light capturing effect of the module.

Within Q.ANTUM NEO solar cells, passivation layer and electrical interconnection functionality are integrated in the NEO Power Transmitter layer. This allows full area passivation and contact at the same time, thus overcoming the PERC limitations.

Standard PERC solar cells use a passivation layer with small holes for electrical interconnection of the cell rear side. Passivation is reduced in the contact area which limits the maximum efficiency.

To guarantee the electrical safety and construction of the modules, Qcells’ modules get initial certifications from external institutes, such as IEC and UL.

One hot-spot can lead to continual yield loss, and in the worst case scenario, the module can catch fire. In order to prevent hot-spots in cells, we inspect the solar cells in various ways, such as infrared camera scanning since 2008.

Quality Controlled PV (QCPV)
The world’s first to pass quality controlled PV
Qcells is the first solar module manufacturer in the industry to pass TÜV Rheinland’s new Quality Controlled PV (QCPV) certification, the most extensive testing program in the industry. Along with that it is also the only certification in the entire industry to involve independent and random onsite testing by external experts, as well as regular material and supplier test.

With our solar modules passing over 40 individual tests, Qcells consistently raises the bar for quality control. This series of over 40 individual tests puts our solar modules to the test: Before we go into series production and after any change – no matter how minor – we carry out module tests that set new industry standards.
Onsite Production Monitoring
QCPV is the only testing program in that an independent expert from TÜV Rheinland continuously monitors the quality and monitoring measures at Qcells sites, in order to be able to guarantee product stability. They also witness the certification tests of the Qcells module test centres in Germany, Korea, Malaysia and China.
Components and Materials Audits
To immediately detect quality fluctuations at the earliest stages in manufacturing, Qcells regularly checks components and materials using methods made to find defects, paying particular attention to reliability and material properties as well as supplier change control.
